This year was the worst year for all of us. Like a tsunami, the pandemic drowned us all from the stock market crashing, COVID-19 getting worse, people losing their jobs, and their homes. The 2020 pandemic taught us how to cherish every moment that we have together and to help others. We took these lessons and wanted to give back to the community.
Urbana STEMM youth volunteers Reshma Ramesh, Niki Kalkeri, Arush Kumar and Anushka Tyagi under the supervision of club director Dr. Amit Kumar and other parents organized the Urbana STEMM Holiday Food Drive. We first contacted Urbana Food Bank and Frederick Rescue Mission whether they were accepting donations and what they were accepting.
We decided we were going to donate the food items to Frederick Rescue Mission. We then sent out a notice using social media and Villages of Urbana news feed for people to fill out if they want to donate some food items in the Urbana community.
